Welcome to Hot Yoga Studio VA Beach

While the classes offered provide a physical workout, centering the mind and balancing the emotions are just as important and typically occur as a result of a regular practice. Each person is encouraged to practice their yoga; working at their personal pace and within their limits.

Everyone can benefit from yoga. There’s no need to be in any special condition to begin. All of the programs offered at Hot Yoga Studio are presented with precise, success-oriented methods of instruction that assure the highest quality experience.  Our students evolve, finding the strength within and without.

Why yoga?

Physical benefits of yoga include:

  • increased flexibility
  • increased muscle strength and tone
  • improved respiration, energy and vitality
  • maintaining a balanced metabolism
  • weight reduction
  • cardio and circulatory health
  • improved athletic performance
  • protection from injury
  • lowered blood pressure which can help to lower the risk of heart problems, chronic kidney disease, and strokes.
  • lowered blood sugar which can improve diabetes management and protect against other related medical conditions such as heart disease.

Mental benefits of yoga come from the mind-body practices focusing on relaxation and the breath in which can have profound and lasting effect on the brain and nervous system. This has been called neuroplasticity, to reflect the fact that we can mold our nervous system towards long-term health by intermittent bouts of training. When you come to your mat next time and begin pranayama breathing, know that you’re utilizing one of the most powerful tools known to improve cardiac function. Patanjali said that yoga “is the practice of quieting the mind.” Apparently it is also the practice of healing the heart.

HOT CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Hot Yoga

A heated series of 26 to 30 postures practiced in a heated environment in order to warm muscles, soothe joints, & detoxify through the process of sweating. This class differs from a Hot flow class because it is meant to help you get stronger, more focused, & assist in building awareness.

Hot Flow

This dynamic form of practice is well rounded with sun salutations, warrior poses, and twists, balancing poses, core-work, spine strengthening, hip openers & the important Savasana.

Hot Flow Level II

This is a 75 minute class that will be similar to Level I but will also prepare those who are ready to go deeper & it will include arm balances & inversions for those ready to expand their practice further. This class is for students who practice Hot Yoga &/or Hot Vinyasa regularly.

Hot Candlelight Flow

This is a heated flow (vinyasa) class set in a dark room with candlelight and music to encourage students to let go of thinking and move from feeling. The instructor will practice with the students giving minimal instruction, recommending students to move intuitively and let go of distractions. Modifications and deeper expressions are welcomed. We suggest students have at least tried one yoga class before participating.

Warm Yoga

Designed for those who want the benefits of the warm heat without the speed and intensity that comes with a Flow Class. We will go through a joint freeing series and practice the foundations of a Hatha yoga practice. You will learn good alignment as you open and stretch your muscles with slow movement and conscious breath work.

Warm Flow

Warm Vinyasa flow class for beginners and experienced practitioners. You will be flowing through poses coordinating breath to movement.

NON-HEATED CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Viniyoga

This is a non-heated class that is a therapeutic & interdisciplinary space for students who are new to yoga, as well as for more experienced students. Viniyoga is intended to be adaptable to any person, regardless of physical limitations, whether through injury, illness, or age. It can be very gentle but is not exclusively so. There is a strong focus on alignment & poses are often held for a consistent number of breaths with rest in between. Due to this, our Viniyoga teachers are highly trained & are experts on anatomy & yoga therapy.

Yin

This is a non-heated class & is great for athletes & those who are tight due to repetitive movement from other sport activities or for those with jobs that keep them in the same position 8 hours a day. Yin consists of static stretching to increase range of motion. Therefore, Yin can have longer lasting effects than a traditional yoga class. This is an all-levels class, where you take your practice is up to you.

Yoga Restore + Yoga Nidra

This is a nonheated class meant for those who are looking to reduce stress & anxiety. We start in the chair for a joint freeing series & some gentle postures that can be done standing or seated, then onto the floor for extended relaxation & Yoga Nidra. It is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. Stress is a part of everyday life & research is showing that the best way to beat it is through Stress Management tools like restorative postures, specific breathing techniques, meditation, & positive imagery/visualizations. This class is great for those recently recovering from a physical, mental & emotional imbalances. This may include recovery from recent surgery, addictions &/or a lifetime of overworking & overdoing.

iRest® Yoga Nidra

A research-based transformative practice of deep relaxation & meditation. This guided meditation is generally practiced lying down or sitting comfortably in group or individual sessions. iRest combines traditional yogic practice with Western psychology & neuroscience. iRest has been shown to be effective in scientific trials for conditions including chronic pain, sleep problems, depression & anxiety, & post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). iRest is simple to learn & easy to practice. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of physical ability or experience with meditation. Once learned, iRest becomes a set of tools for life.
